Struggling with the new EEO-1 Report

Why is it that what should be simple and straightforward never actually is that way when working on US Government reporting. I suspect this is the same no matter what Government one is reporting for.

My team and I are currently beating our heads against the wall trying to get the EEO 1 report to work correctly.

Historically, we have as a company not used the standard delivered reports in our SAP system. Custom reports were required as we did not use SAP in the way required to to take advantage of the delivered report.

This year however, knowing that the report format was changing, we had taken the time to revise our use of SAP so we could take advantage of the delivered EEO1 report.

Then came the bad news, we are not on the correct release of our SAP System to take advantage of the delivered changes, and we will not get there in any time soon. Thus, we are going to have to go back to a custom solution after all. Now I can accept this if I had not notified the right people of our requirement, however this was brought to the attention of our SAP Basis team in March of this year. Apparently there was a decision not to apply the support packs due to the impact of the rest of the SAP environment.

We had a quick brainstorming session and it was determined that we could do this if we only knew what changes SAP made to the tables in order for the report to be in the new format.

Thus, our solution was to apply the SAP Support packs in our sandbox area to understand the changes that were made to accommodate the new report format. We will than take those changes and apply them to our system so we can create the report.

The first week, we really questioned our approach due to the amount of changes that were made. However as the second week unfolded, we made significant progress.

While not totally resolved, we are confident that we will be able to get the report out in time.

Are any of you having similar issues with this?

If so, I would like to hear from you.

We are having the same issue with our Lawson implementation. However, we don't need to implement a new release, only a service pack to meet the new EEO requirements. Due to our outsourced support for the Lawson application, however, we have not made the progress that we would have liked to have made by now. It does look like we'll get the patch installed and tested in time, but I wish that our outsourced support would have been a little more aggressive about implementing the patch.

sap sap support packs
Very interesting article, thank you for posting it. I am using SAP Support packs in my work for several years and now I even can't think about working without the help of SAP.
