This past weekend I was in Dallas with fellow IHRIM Board members.
A few of us came in a day early to enjoy the nice Texas weather on a local golf course.
But when the meeting was called on Saturday play time was over, although we do have fun!
We welcomed our newest Board Member, Connie Duffy. Connie officially starts on the Board in January 2008, however she was invited to this meeting for orientation and to get a flavor of what happens in the Board Room.
The Officers for next year were elected. Since I am not sure if it is OK for me to reveal the results of this election I will save that for another day.
We passed the IHRIM Operational budget for next year. It includes some investments in our Association technology and new capabilities for our web site. Things that you, our membership have been asking for!
It also includes the development of new course material. You have asked for new offerings and we have listened. Look for more information about these in 2008.
The bulk of our time together was spent talking about our strategic direction as an Association, and our growth.
Growing our membership is the cornerstone of our strategy and we are committed to remain focused on providing our members a place where they can get unbiased information on HR Technology, network with others and develop thier careers in the HR Information Managment arena.
We talked about some of the exciting things that are going to happen at our Conference June 2008 in Orlando. I don't want to spoil the surprises, but lets just say that inside the Magic Kingdom is not the only place to see Mickey and his friends. You don't want to miss out, great pricing for early registration is now available on the IHRIM web site.
By Sunday afternoon, we all had our fill of strategizing and left for home with our action items.
It is hard to believe that I am a few months away of completing my first term as your Association Chair.
My job as the Chief Volunteer Officer is to make sure that this organization serves the needs of its members. If you get some time, I would appreciate it if you would drop me a note with your thoughts on how we are doing as an Association in meeting your needs.

Yay! The blog is back!
You got my feedback at the AGL meeting, but I figured that I'd share: I'm very impressed with where the board is going. I believe that the Board has the ship pointed in the right direction. Now it's time to push the throttle forward and bring that horizon closer. It's great to hear that the budget was approved with the improvements for the web site.
Keep up the good work and stay on target!
Steve
