The IHRIM Board of Directors had it's final formal meeting of the 2007 fiscal year. This meeting focused on a continuation of the strategic discussions from the previous meeting, aligning on the Association Goals for next year and setting the budget for implementation of the initiatives. Our Key objectives for 2008 are focused on our growth. Growth in membership, growth in Conference Attendees and Vendors, growth in educational offerings and growth in our marketing presence.
We believe that there is opportunity for growth given the re-newed interest in HR Technology solutions. Talent Management and the various systems that have popped up in this space has created a renewed interest in the point solution product world. Many companies are on HRMS ERP systems that were implemented over 10 years ago, have not been upgraded and whose future is in question. With the pace at which technology has changed, these products, now considered "legacy" are begin reviewed for replacement. Technology evaluation and implementation has always been a sweet spot in the IHRIM educational offering. Additionally, IHRIM has always been a place to go for networking with peers. Taking an informal poll from some of IHRIM's members, I have estimated that current IHRIM Members collectively have implemented thousands of systems. That's a tremendous amount of knowledge to leverage for those who are new to this arena. What a tremendous time to take advantage of this knowledge base and become a new member of IHRIM.
Another key opportunity for growth is through our Educational Foundation. This foundation has been established so that IHRIM has a vehicle to obtain funding for educational research and development that is separate and distinct from our operational funds. We are just steps away from having our tax exempt status for this foundation, giving us unlimited opportunity to raise funds to grow and improve our educational content and move closer to offering a certification program.
A key initiative for 2008 is the updating of our website and the technology used for running the IHRIM organization. Our current site was built many years ago and is truly showing its age. Updating the look of the site and the underlying technology that it is run on will give us opportunities to offer more products to our members as well as those who are considering a membership with IHRIM. It is my belief that as our "face to the world" a new website will better position us to tell our story, and in doing so enable us to obtain new members, new customers and new opportunities for vendors who work with IHRIM and sponsor our site and events.
As you can see, I am very excited about what we have planned for 2008. While we still have a few outstanding goals to achieve as we end the 2007 year, we are poised and ready for success in 2008.
